Keeping in mind upcoming long home season, BCCI to prepare ‘doctored pitch’ for Duleep trophy final

Just as we are finished with the first domestic game with the pink ball, there is important news coming in from the BCCI as it is heard that BCCI is mulling to prepare a turning track for the Duleep trophy final keeping in mind the long home season which awaits Indian team. BCCI is eager to do this as this will be the final home game for many players before the New Zealand series begins, while someone like Virat Kohli, Shikar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma and India Blue captain Gautam Gambhir, who is still hopeful for return may get another game as New Zealand is scheduled to play a practise match in Delhi.

This step has been taken by BCCI keeping in mind upcoming home series and also because many international players will participate in the final, this will give help them to prepare for upcoming matches.

“It’s natural that the Test match at home will be played on a turning track and the final of the Duleep Trophy is an ideal scenario to get some match practice,” BCCI sources said.

It is a big step taken by BCCI in order to garner the home advantage. Earlier we saw that Indian team made full use of home advantage against Australia, West Indies, and South Africa. Though the trick in the year 2012 in the home series against England but that is only one of the cases when everything did not go according to the plan.

Currently, the Indian team is busy playing two T20Is against West Indies in U.S. Soon after the return from there it is expected that most of the international players will be part of Duleep trophy squads so as to prepare before New Zealand series. Also, this will give them a taste of pink ball.
