Former English International Kevin Pietersen lashed out at his critic, who claimed KP to be a one World Cup wonder. It was only recently that one of the best batsmen produced by England, announced his retirement from the game of cricket.
Quetta Gladiators’ final league match at the Pakistan Super League (PSL) turned out to be the final match of Pietersen’s career. After remaining out of contention for national selection, Pietersen turned out to be a Twenty20 league mercenary, participating in a variety of franchise league around the world.

Earlier, Pietersen was part of three-time Ashes-winning England side during the period between 2005-2013. In between, he also helped the English side – to lift their maiden World Cup title in the history in T20 World Cup held on the Carribean shores in 2010.

However, due to his strained relationship with ECB Director Andrew Strauss and the controversial Text messages sent to his mates in the South African team, KP’s appearances were largely reduced in the BBL, PSL and at times in the IPL.

That said, one of the Australian journos tweeted, “Still not sure why people rate KP so highly in T20 cricket. Failed to set the IPL alight in 5 yrs, nothing outrageous in BBL. Best format still Test cricket by a mile. Only fame to glory was 2010 T20 wcup #IPL,”

Kevin Pietersen, who is part of the IPL commentators panel and also an integral part of match analysis for Star Network, replied by tweeting, “How many T20 World Cups & Man of the T20 World Cups have you got mate?! Shut up!”
