ToggleIt is reported by Mumbai Mirror that Indian Premier League franchise Kings XI Punjab are in talks with former Indian captain and coach Anil Kumble for the head coach role. Punjab had parted ways with their former coach Mike Hesson who was their last season’s coach.
Furthermore, Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin is all set to join Delhi Capitals. Thus, it would be interesting to note who will lead Punjab in IPL 2020. KL Rahul is a front contender for the leadership role.

Kumble is a great choice.
Anil Kumble has all the experience under his belt and he would be a perfect addition to the coaching staff of Kings XI Punjab. Kumble has the experience of mentoring Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. Furthermore, Kumble has also coached the Indian national team. Thus, Kumble will bring a lot of quality to the table for the Punjab franchise.
Anil Kumble was able to take Mumbai Indians to glory in the 2013 and 2015 season when he was coach of the franchise. Moreover, India did well under his coaching stint. Kumble’s exit from the team was marred with controversy but he was able to take India to Champions Trophy final.

Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab is yet to savor success in the Indian Premier League. Consequently, Kings XI Punjab will hope that Anil Kumble will be able to end their tittle woes. In fact, Kings XI Punjab is one of the three sides in the league which is yet to win a single edition of the league.

Kings XI Punjab didn’t have a great previous season as they finished at the sixth place in the points table. Hence, they had failed to qualify for the playoffs. Punjab had the best IPL season in 2014 when they were able to make it to the finals. On the other hand, the Indian Premier League auctions will be held in Kolkata on December 19.
