Indian cricketer KL Rahul and Manish Pandey have returned from New Zealand after their stint in the limited-overs series against New Zealand. However, Karnatak player Manish Pandya will join his Ranji team Karnatka for the upcoming quarter-final, but Rahul, on the other hand, will be training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore instead.
Both the Karnataka players have a tremendous outing on Kiwis shores. The best outcome from the tour was Rahul’s emergence as the wicketkeeper-batsman. He was awarded as the Player of the Series in the five-match T20I series. With an average of 56, he scored 224 runs that include two half-centuries. While in three ODIs, he scored 204 runs that include a century.
Also, after playing the T20I series as an opener, he was given the duty to handle the middle order. In both the series, he had scored runs from every given position. Now, as the player has returned from New Zealand, he will join NCA to train himself.
On the other hand, Pandey proved to be an apt finisher for the team in the shortest format. In five T20Is, he remained not out in all the games while he didn’t get the chance to bat in one of the matches. His figures in the series were 14*, 14*, 50*, 11*.
In the one-day contest, he got the opportunity in the middle, in the last game where he scored 42 runs. He had every time led the team to the finishing point.
Meanwhile, he will be making his first appearance in Ranji Trophy 2019-20 quarterfinal against Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). Besides, his teammate Karun Nair will continue to lead the side.
Earlier, Pandey had guided the Karnataka team to victory in finals in both Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20 and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019-20 respectively.
