A target of 339 runs and India was five down with a score of 54 with MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli both back in the pavilion. In came the most trusted all-rounder of India Hardik Pandya, who has been accelerated by the selectors in past few years. Just like every other batsman, Pandya was expected to just come and go without even being blamed as on a day when many stalwarts flattened in front of Pakistan bowlers, how can one expected Pandya to shine?
But the way those few overs when Pandya was on the crease panned out, it the raised few of hopes for the Indian team as he was hitting runs at will. He was hitting monstrous sixes and was paying perfect to Kapil Dev on a day when he played an innings of 175* against Zimbabwe 34 years ago in England.
Kapil Dev alone won that game and this time, it looked like Pandya will emulate him. He was hitting monstrous sixes, which impressed everyone. Pandya was an overnight star and with each boundary, his fan base was increasing. All hopes were on Pandya but the moment he got run out, all the hopes came to end with his wicket.
Though till the time he got out, he had got praises from around the world for the lone effort he was doing on the day.
His brother – Krunal – was one of those who heaped praises on him wrote –
I have seen him hit those monster sixes for my entire life but today was something special. Proud of you, @hardikpandya7 pic.twitter.com/ImNJv3vfU0

Surely, he was correct in saying that as not just him, all public have also seen hitting him huge sixes in IPL and in domestic cricket but this time, it came it at the biggest stage during an India-Pakistan clash.
