Sri Lankan stalwart Kumar Sangakkara on 3rd December recorded the most number of dismissals by an ODI wicket-keeper (474) in the third ODI of the seven-match ODI series against England at Hambantota, surpassing Adam Gilchrist’s record of 472 dismissals.
Prior to this game, Sangakkara and Gilchrist were tied on 472 dismissals each. But Sangakkara recorded this feat when he caught England captain Alastair Cook off Dhammika Prasad’s bowling.
This was not the only record that Sangakkara made in this match. He also became the fourth batsman in the history of ODI cricket to cross 13000 runs. Apart from Sangakkara, the other Sri Lankan to feature in this list is Sanath Jayasuriya, who achieved this feat in 433 innings.
