The investigation regarding the matter is currently in progress.
The team from the island nation is currently in the UK to play three T20Is and as many ODIs. The visitors were blanked in the T20I series as they didn’t even put up a fight against the full-strength England side. The first of the three-match ODI series is set to be played on June 29.

Sri Lanka‘s team manager Manuja Kariyapperuma has confirmed that the team management is investigating the breach. The team is currently in Durham and the place in which Kusal Mendis, Niroshan Dickwella, and Danushka Gunathilaka have been captured doesn’t appear to be in the vicinity of the hotel. The video that has gone viral on Twitter, clearly shows the cricketers were having fun while being out of the bubble.

As far as the performance on the field is concerned, both the players didn’t have a good time. Kusal Mendis scored only 54 runs in three matches with the best score of 39 runs at a poor strike rate of 98.18 while Niroshan Dickwella played in two T20Is only mustering only 14 runs and he wasn’t great behind the stumps either. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said on Monday they were sending their players Kusal Mendis, Niroshan Dickwella, and Danushka Gunathilaka back home from the team’s England tour for breaching bio-bubble protocols. The decision was taken after a video posted on social media showed vice-captain Kusal Mendis, wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella and batsman Danushka Gunathilaka outside their designated team hotel in Durham.

Sri Lanka is already without opener Avishka Fernando who has been ruled out of the one-dayers with a quadriceps injury sustained during the second T20 match in Cardiff.
