List of Batsmen with Most Sixes in T20 Cricket

Twent20 cricket is all about the thrill and enticing moments to be won. With batters doing enough to rule the roost, the bowlers have equally tried their best to spoil their party. Since the advent of the short-paced competition, the cricketing world has witnessed some classical ramp shots. The professionals like Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Shahid Afridi and Virender Sehwag had opted for the big shots to pace up the innings. While discussing the list of batsmen with most sixes in T20 cricket, the adventurous shots had made things easy-peasy for the batters.

Eventually, it forced the bowlers with the different trait to tackle the batsmen from time-to-time.

 Let’s have a look at those batters who’ve scored most sixes in T20 cricket:

  1. Chris Gayle- 103 6s:

The burly opener for the Windies National Cricket Team, Chris Gayle has instilled fear among the bowlers with his power-hitting prowess. After making his Twent20 International debut in 2006, the southpaw represented the Caribbean side in 56 matches. He amassed 1607 runs at an average of 33.47.

Moreover, with his highest score of 117, Gayle further racked up two centuries and 13 half-centuries. The muscular lad further had smashed 103 sixes and 137 fours in 52 T20 innings. He is bossing the list of batsmen with most sixes in T20 cricket.

In addition to, Gayle remained unbeaten on four occasions and walked out on three occasions without opening his account in the short-paced competition.

  1. Martin Guptill- 103 6s:

New Zealand’s top-order batsman Martin Guptill has delivered goods with his bat. Having a flair to hit big shots, Guptill has had made it eventually easy for his partners.

The explosive opening batsman made 75 T20 appearances for the Black Caps. He garnered 2271 runs at an average of 34.40.

Entertaining in his own way, Guptill has two hundreds and 14 fifties under his belt in 73 innings.

Having his highest score of 104 in the T20 circuit, Guptill further smashed 103 sixes and 200 fours, so far.

  1. Rohit Sharma- 98 6s:

Rohit Sharma is a familiar name among the cricketing circles. The Nagpur-based cricketer appeared to be a different player in the limited-overs format.

Rohit represented India in 90 T20 to amass 2237 runs at an average of 32.89. Having wealth of the T20 experience, the prominent batsman played a major role for India in the white-ball cricket.

So much so, Rohit has recorded four tons and 15 half-centuries in 82 innings. The new-ball batsman found it easy to pierce the gaps owing to his precision and timing.

So far, the elegant right-handed Rohit collected 98 sixes and 201 fours

  1. Brendon McCullum- 91 6s:

Former New Zealand National Cricket Team skipper Brendon McCullum was known for his packed performance. Very nimble on the field, McCullum was further known for his acrobatics. He did a bulk of job for his national team before bowing out from T20 cricket in 2015.

The sensational right-handed batsman represented the Kiwis in 71 matches in which he aggregated the total of 2140 runs at the average of 35.66.

Moreover, in 70 innings McCullum registered 13 fifties and two tons. While relying more on big shots, McCullum recorded 91 maximums and 199 fours to his name.

  1. Colin Munro- 82 6s:

Another Kiwis explosive batsman Colin Munro had a merry-run in the T20 format. So far, the promising batsman had registered three hundreds and eight fifties in 48 T20Is.

The Durban-based middle-order batsman Munro earned the promotion for his ability to accelerate the innings. The left-handed batsman has amassed 1277 runs at the average of 33.66 in 45 innings.

Moreover, Munro has 83 sixes and 95 boundaries under his belt after making his T20 debut in 2012.

  1. Shane Watson- 82 6s:

Shane Watson in his prime has played a vital role for Australia across formats. Known for delivering a punch, Watson had given his best in the T20 cricket for the Kangaroos.

The right-handed batsman Watson represented Australia in 58 T20. The prolific all-rounder had given his best during his heydays. In 56 T20 innings, Watson registered 1462 runs at an average of 29.24.

Watson further struck a solitary hundred and 10 half-centuries to his name between 2006 and 2016. Also, he smashed 83 sixes and 115 fours during his T20 career.

  1. Aaron Finch- 79 6s:

Aaron Finch, who has now donned the Test jersey on the back of some good performances in the domestic circuit, has already proved himself in the white-ball cricket. The top-order batsman has made 50 appearances in the T20 cricket which further saw him scoring 1663 runs at an average of 38.67.

Having the strike-rate of 156.29, Finch further added two hundreds and nine fifties to his name in 50 innings.

While making most out of the powerplay overs, Finch further registered 79 sixes and 169 fours since his debut came in 2011.

  1. David Warner- 79 6s:

David Warner’s ability to score runs at pace has put him ahead of many other prominent faces. The explosive pocket-size dynamite has done fairly well for the Australian national cricket team.

At the top, Warner had made things easier in setting up the target for the opposition. Eventually, he put his foot on the accelerator whenever his team required some quick runs.

The 32-year-old New South Wales-born batsman played 70 T20 matches for Australia. He further registered 1792 runs at an average of 26.74. Warner further registered 13 fifties to his name.

Also, he has smashed 79 sixes and 172 fours during his ongoing T2o career to become one of the batsmen to smash most sixes in T20 cricket.

  1. Eoin Morgan- 77 6s:

This might turn out to be a surprise inclusion owing to the top ten list of players with most sixes in t20 cricket, but let me assure you with some stats. England’s limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan’s capability has reaped him rewards over and over again.

The prominent face in the international cricket Morgan played 77 T20 for England. Interestingly, Morgan amassed 1734 runs at an average of 28.42. He has nine half-centuries to his name in 75 innings.

Overall, since 2009, Morgan has smashed 77 sixes and 129 fours for the Three Lions. Being a judicious leader, Morgan’s contribution with the bat had often won hearts. He is ninth on the list of most sixes in T20 cricket.

  1. Yuvraj Singh- 74 6s:

In the 2007 ICC World Twenty20 at Kingsmead in Durban, flamboyant Yuvraj Singh smashes six sixes off the bowling of Stuart Broad. And it has been some record to talk about, thereon.

Known for striking the ball clean, Yuvraj represented India in 58 T20s in which he garnered 1177 runs at an average of 28.02. In 51 innings, Yuvraj further smashed 74 sixes and 77 boundaries. Also, he has eight half-centuries under his belt in the T20 cricket for the Men in Blue. On the list of most sixes in T20 cricket, Yuvraj bagged the tenth spot ahead of Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi (73).
