Madan Lal Appointed Chairman Of DDCA’s Cricket Affairs Committee

Former Indian cricketer and a member of the 1983 World Cup winning team Madan Lal has been appointed as the Chairman of the newly formed Cricket Affairs Committee (CAC) of Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA). The panel also consists of former Indian wicket keeper and a former national selector Saba Karim, a member of the 1983 World Cup winning team Sunil Valson. Former Indian Women’s cricketer Amita Sharma and Senior Sports Journalist GS Vivek.

The Committee has been given the duty of appointing coaches for various teams including senior to age group level cricket, conducting trials and summer camps and ensure the selection matters and smooth conduct of the Delhi League. The 66-year-old former all-rounder represented his nation in 39 Tests and 67 ODI’s between 1974 to 1987 and his most notable performance remains the /31 he picked in the final of the 1983 World Cup which helped India lift their maiden World Cup title.

Meanwhile, the team India is currently in Sri Lanka competing in a 3 match Test series which will be followed by both ODI and T20I series. They have been rampant in the Test series so far and has already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead. They have thoroughly dominated the Lankans in all 3 departments of the game and the hosts haven’t found any answers.

Barring a fighting effort in the 2nd innings of the 2nd Test. They have been in lacklustre in all 3 departments of the game and requires something special to prevent India from a clean sweep. Following the Sri Lanka series, India will lock horns with New Zealand and Australia in limited overs series at home which will be followed by Sri Lanka’s return tour to India.

The Islanders will play a full series comprising 3 Tests, 3 ODI’s and 3 T20I’s and unless they improve by leaps and bounds we might witness a clean sweep in all 3 formats of the game. The home leg will finally come to an end when India travels to South Africa which might prove to be the toughest tour for them in the last couple of years.
