Manoj Tiwary, the veteran Bengal cricketer, has named the best eleven of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. As one of his openers, he picked Kings XI Punjab’s (KXIP) KL Rahul, who ended as the Orange Cap winner with 670 runs in 14 matches. He put forth his opinions while speaking on Cricbuzz Live.
Manoj Tiwary assigned captaincy to Rohit Sharma who would partner KL Rahul as an opener. The captain of the Mumbai Indians (MI), who won their fifth IPL title, beating Delhi Capitals (DC) in the final was included though he wasn’t consistent. Rohit Sharma scored 68 in the final amassing 332 runs in 12 games.
Manoj Tiwary Went For Suryakumar Yadav, AB De Villiers And Krunal Pandya
At number three, Manoj Tiwary went for Suryakumar Yadav, who performed throughout the tournament with his flamboyance and elegance amassing 480 runs in 16 games. Manoj Tiwary also picked AB de Villiers who was arguably the standout batsman for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Manoj Tiwary went for Krunal Pandya as the all-rounder ahead of Marcus Stoinis and Rahul Tewatia.
From the Royal Challengers Bangalore side, he left out Virat Kohli, who wasn’t quite in the best of form according to his high standards with the bat. At number five and six positions, Manoj Tiwary went for power hitters Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard, who both showed their brute force for the Mumbai-based franchise. One of Manoj Tiwary’s picks that is questionable enough was that of Krunal Pandya, who scored only 109 runs and picked up six wickets in the tournament.
Manoj Tiwary Omits Kagiso Rabada And Yuzvendra Chahal
In the spin-department, to partner Krunal Pandya, Manoj Tiwary went for Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) Rashid Khan. The Afghanistan spinner picked up 20 wickets at an incredible economy rate of 5.37. His best figures of 3/7 came against the runners up Delhi Capitals in Dubai. But he didn’t go for Yuzvendra Chahal, who was impressive for RCB throughout the event picking up 21 scalps.
Jofra Archer, Jasprit Bumrah and T Natarajan were his choices as pacers. Jofra Archer ended as the ‘Most Valuable Player’ of IPL 2020 despite his team Rajasthan Royals (RR) ending at the bottom of the points table. Jasprit Bumrah ended with 27 wickets finishing second behind Kagiso Rabada’s 30 and T Natarajan impressed everyone with his ability to bowl yorkers at death overs. He omitted Purple Cap holder Kagiso Rabada.
Here’s the XI:
Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, AB de Villiers, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Rashid Khan, Jofra Archer, Jasprit Bumrah, T Natarajan
