Australian southpaw opener Matthew Renshaw has suffered a hamstring strain ahead of Test selection. Matthew Renshaw was part of the Australia A squad in the recently concluded Quadrangular series.
However, despite suffering from the injury Renshaw is hopeful to make a strong case for himself for the Test selection. The left-handed batsman had hit the nets on Friday to prove his fitness before the four-day game against India A.
Matthew Renshaw hopeful of regaining full fitness.
India A and Australia A will take on each other from Sunday at Bangalore. The second four-day game between the two sides will take place at Alur from September 8.
Thus, the Queensland batsman will hope to regain fitness to play in the opener of the series. Furthermore, Australia’s senior team selection for the two Test matches against Pakistan which take place in October in the UAE will depend on Australia A performance.
Consequently, the players who will impress in these hard Indian conditions will make the cut for the Pakistan series. In fact, Matthew Renshaw had also earlier toured India in 2017 and impressed with his resistance to fight it out in the middle.

Meanwhile, Renshaw fellow state player Marnus Labuschagne is the cover for the left-hander. Marnus Labuschagne was originally part of the limited-overs leg in the Quadrangular series.
On the other hand, Usman Khawaja, Travis Head and D’Arcy Short were the best performers for Australia A in the Quadrangular series. Australia A lost to India B in the final of the tournament.
Australia will play the first Test match against Pakistan on October 7 with second one beginning on October 16.
