Melbourne Renegades has signed the West Indies off-spinner Sunil Narine for the upcoming season of Big Bash League 2016/17. Narine will pair up with the veteran spinner Brag Hogg to turn the ball in an effort to turn the tables in favour of their franchise. Both the ball turners have previously played alongside each other for IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.
Narine is Melbourne’s second overseas signing after his own teammate, Dwayne Bravo.
“This is a great opportunity for me and I’m looking forward to moving down to Melbourne for the BBL season,” Narine said.
“The BBL is growing bigger and bigger every year and attracts attention from around the world. The Renegades fans have a reputation for being loyal and loud and I’m ready to see what I can do at Etihad Stadium.
“With my fellow countryman Dwayne Bravo, captain Aaron Finch and the rest of the guys, I’m hoping for a successful tournament,” Narine added.
Sunil Narine has previously represented Sydney Sixers in BBL in the year 2012. He will be making his comeback in the tournament after a brief period of 4 years to play for a new franchise this time.
