Australia national cricket team coach Darren Lehmann said that he is “sick” of hearing about the conjecture around regular captain Michael Clarke’s fitness and leadership. Darren Lehmann stated that the injured captain is recuperating ahead of his scheduled return. He was hopeful he would make a return in the team before the 21st Feb deadline given to him.
Darren Lehmann clearly stated to ESPNcricinfo that he is “sick” of it. He is looking forward to Clarke’s return. He played grade cricket on the weekend which is great and he is playing again on 5th February, so he will get to have a look at him. He had a good talk to him and he pulled up quite well from the grade match. He is ahead of schedule and he thinks he has said that in front of the media as well. Fingers crossed he might be.
When Darren Lehmann was asked if Clarke would have his and the team’s supports, Lehmann replied that he would be provided positive acceptance. He was quoted saying: “Always. He’s captain of Australia, the second most important position behind the prime minister as such, we need our captain playing well.”
Michael Clarke made a come-back to cricket after undergoing a successful hamstring problem and scored a half-ton in a Grade tournament. Michael Clarke last played an international match in the 1st Test at Sydney against India, where he got a ton.
