RCB hasn’t been one of the best teams in IPL. The last time they qualified for the second round of IPL was in 2016.
Then, they went on to play the final but lost the summit clash to Sunrisers Hyderabad, who clinched the trophy for the first time.
In 2017, RCB finished at the bottom of the table with just 3 wins in 14 matches.
In IPL 2018, RCB finished their tourney as a sixth-placed team on the table with six wins in 14 matches.
They haven’t been the best team in IPL despite the presence of Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who is set to lead the team for the 7th year now.
RCB once had Chris Gayle in their ranks along with AB de Villiers but they could never lead the team to a title victory.
In IPL 2018, RCB retained Kohli and De Villiers and released Gayle, who went on to star for Kings XI Punjab.
Same was the case with KL Rahul, who was the highest third highest run-scorer in IPL 2018 after being released by RCB.
In the IPL auction for the upcoming season, RCB spent big bucks on Shimron Hetmyer and Shivam Dube. The team will hope the duo to do well.
Along with them, the franchise also purchased Himmat Singh, Heinrich Klaasen, Devdutt Padikkal and others.
They also brought in Marcus Stoinis in place of Mandeep Singh, whom they swapped with Kings XI Punjab.
One of the biggest worries for RCB will be the lack of the second spinner.
They just have one specialist spinner in the form of Yuzvendra Chahal and the team does not have someone who can partner him in the spin duties.
There are likes of Washington Sundar, Pawan Negi, Gurkeerat Singh Mann and Moeen Ali in the squad but Chahal is the lone specialist spinner.
Royal Challengers Bangalore kick off their IPL campaign against Chennai Super Kings with an away game on March 23.
