Former Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur has been appointed as the consultant head coach of the Sri Lankan team. Arthur has been signed a two-year contract deal with Sri Lanka cricket. Mickey has the experience of coaching South Africa, Pakistan and Australia and he would aim to get Sri Lankan cricket to new heights.
Sri Lanka has struggled in the recent past and Arthur will like to turn the tables. The veteran has all the experience under his belt and he would like to make the most of it to help the team start a new chapter in their game.

Arthur has experience under his belt.
Arthur’s first assignment as the chief coach of Sri Lanka will be against his former team, Pakistan. Sri Lanka will tour Pakistan for two-match Test series, with the first Test to begin from the 11th of December. Pakistan had sacked Arthur earlier this year after the team could not qualify for the semifinal stages of the World Cup. However, Pakistan had won the Champions Trophy 2017 under Mickey Arthur’s tutelage.
Meanwhile, interim coach Rumesh Ratnayake is also expected to tour Pakistan in helping the smooth transition. On the other hand, former Zimbabwe batsman Grant Flower will be the new batting coach of Sri Lanka.

Furthermore, David Saker will take on the bowling reins whereas Shane McDermott will take the fielding coach role.
However, Grant Flower will only work with the white ball team and thus he will not travel to Pakistan for the two-match Test series. Sri Lanka is currently in the rebuilding stage and Arthur will have his work cut out.
It is not going to be easy for Arthur and his job will be to get the best out of his players. Arthur is Sri Lanka’s 11th coach in the last eight years and he would like to deliver the goods for the team.
