Misbah-Ul-Haq Sets Conditions for Sarfaraz Ahmed’s Return to Pakistan Team
The head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq for Pakistan himself has taken a tough stand for the team in a bid to yield desired results in the foreseeable future. Since the Men in Green lost the T20I series against Sri Lanka at home, ex-captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been dropped from the team.
On Thursday (January 16), Misbah revealed the team for the upcoming home series against Bangladesh.
The Tigers will tour Pakistan–to play three-match T20 series, two-match Test series, and a solitary ODI. Everyone was eager to see Sarfaraz’s name in the list of the 15-man squad for the upcoming series. Well, it seems that Pakistan has moved ahead from the veteran cricketer who also led them to victory during 2017 ICC Champions Trophy.
However, the former Pakistan cricketer Misbah asserted that Sarfaraz will return once he gets back his form and proves his fitness.
“Sarfaraz Ahmed has made some terrific improvements in fitness and is one of the fittest at the moment. It’s straight forward for him with PSL coming up, he was dropped due to form. If he performs, he has a strong case to make a comeback,” Misbah said.
Notably, Sarfaraz hasn’t played a match after the humiliating defeat against Sri Lanka in the T20I series. In this series, Sri Lankan inexperienced players had shown grit and determination against a No.1 T20 side.
After this, selectors sidelined Sarfaraz for Australia tour and when the Lankans toured Pakistan to play a two-match Test series. However, he will feature in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) which will get underway in February.
Moreover, Pakistan should not forget that Sarfaraz has played a vital role while leading from the front, particularly in the shortest format.
