ToggleAmidst all the tensions in the board, the higher officials named Misbah-ul-Haq to lead the A-list players for a 17-day training. The former skipper of Pakistan Cricket has vast knowledge in red-ball, which will certainly help the youngsters to learn a lot from the legendary player of Pakistan.
The pre-season camp, according to a PCB media release, has been organised with a view to an upcoming year in which most of Pakistan’s international commitments will be in the five-day format.

Pakistan is scheduled to have a 17-day conditioning camp from the 19th of August. It will continue until the first week of next month. The first two days will be devoted to fitness testing followed by related training at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.

Misbah-ul-Haq has been named the ‘camp commandant’ and will be responsible for setting up drills. And also, guiding the A-list players through the camp along with the Academy’s coaching staff.

Apart from 31 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy first-class matches and number of domestic white-ball matches in relation to the National T20 Cup and Pakistan Cup One-Day Tournament, the Pakistan cricket team is scheduled to play six World Test Championship Tests, three ODIs and nine T20Is in the forthcoming season.

“Misbah-ul-Haq has been Pakistan’s most successful captain. He understands the arduous demands of the format in this day and age. With the advent of the World Test Championship, the PCB wants Pakistan to turn up with their best red ball game. Especially, when they face Sri Lanka in the two-match Test series at home,” said Zakir Khan, PCB Director of international cricket.
14 players holding central contracts with the cricketing body have been invited to attend the camp. Interestingly, along with six uncontracted players from the domestic circuit. The traditional Quaid-e-Azam trophy will begin soon after the first match on September 12. It will be followed by a series with Sri Lanka and a tour to Australia later in the year.
