Mitchell Johnson, Chris Lynn, Evin Lewis to Feature in PSL 3

The newly-appointed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi revealed the widely-acclaimed domestic competition Pakistan Super League (SPL) on Saturday (September 30), has availed the services of top-notch players around the globe for the third edition of PSL.

While attracting the massive names in cricket, PSL has maintained its credibility while providing an opportunity to the talented players back home apart from privately-owned outlets have had eventually offered the lucrative deals to foreign operators.

The list of players includes Australian former fast bowler Mitchell Johnson and current explosive batsman Chris Lynn followed by swashbuckling Evin Lewis (Windies) and slow-bowling sensation Rashid Khan from politically-troubled Afghanistan.

Moreover, former Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews has also expressed his interest alongside South African batting all-rounder JP Duminy, and bowler Wayne Parnell, who have been further reportedly permitted the participation.

Duminy has already retired from Test cricket as Parnell has been overlooked in the Proteas squad more often in the recent past.

The 27-year-old Lynn has left a huge impact while representing Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League (BBL), as leg-spinner Rashid has been most sought after bowler in the T20 competition while proving his mettle in his maiden stint for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The former pace portent for Australia Mitchell Johnson has enough experience on his back while playing different leagues across the cricketing globe.

On the other side, all-rounder Mathews would be a major asset for any team both with bat and a ball.

The batting sensation from Caribbean Evan Lewis would be a fascinating batsman to watch out for, as he is capable of hitting towering sixes to entertain the crowd and equally change the complexion of the game.

Pertinently, the draft for the PSL is bound to take place in October, as PCB has already been in contact to rope in star cricketers in the domestic fold.

With Multan Sultans being the new addition to the PSL franchises’ list, the next edition will witness six teams wrestling for the title which is with Darren Sammy led Peshawar Zalmi after the first edition was clinched by Misbah-ul-Haq’s Islamabad United against Sarfraz Ahmed-led Quetta Gladiators.

After Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has successfully organized the first two editions of the PSL, the professional Twenty20 competition has already been the home to several star players around the world.

With the second edition marred by spot-fixing scandal controversy, the grand-finale was hosted before a packed crowd at iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on March 5 this year.

After kick-starting in 2016, the third edition is expected to begin in February 2018, as the final is scheduled to be held in Pakistan which is subjected to the security.

Here’s the confirmation from third-time PCB chairman Sethi:
