Mitchell Johnson outsmarts Jadeja with his football skills

Mitchell Johnson is a complete athlete and that has been pretty evident with his fitness and physique. Johnson once again puts on an advertisement of his athletic nature during the encounter between the Kings XI Punjab and Gujarat Lions at Mohali.

In the latter half of Gujarat’s run chase, wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik tried to take a quick single off Johnson as he just tapped the ball and went for the run straightaway. His partner, Ravindra Jadeja too responded quickly as the southpaw was headed towards the striker’s end. Little did he know, that Johnson was about to outsmart him with his football skills.

As Jadeja raced off for the single, Johnson too tried to get near the ball. Rather than bending to pick up the ball, Johnson calmly kicked the ball towards the stumps which hit the target. Jadeja was well short and walked straight away after being dismissed. The Kings XI might have lost the game, but that moment definitely put up a smile on the faces of the Kings XI supporters.

The Lions on their IPL debut chased down 162 with ease as they were powered by Aaron Finch’s brilliant batting. Finch was named the Man of the Match for his knock of 74. On being named the Man of the Match, Finch said, “”It’s nice to start the tournament well from the team’s point of view. Credit to the bowlers for pulling it back. Beautiful wicket, it had enough grass on it, and the ball just skidded on under lights. We thought it might slow up but it didn’t. You need a bit of luck in this format when you are trying to go hard at the top of the order. Very happy to be here.”
