Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin was out of the public limelight because of allegations of match fixing on him, but since the court gave him a clean chit, the Hyderabadi has left no stone unturned  to connect with his fans.

For somebody, who is 53 years old and retired in an era when nobody would have heard about a  smartphone, Azhar didn’t hesitate to use as modern a social platform as twitter on interact with his burgeoning fan club which has surpassed 22 thousand marks.

There couldn’t have a better time for such initiatives since an Emran Hashmi-starred biopic about the cricketer is just about to release and has sparked interest among Azhar’s young fans to know about him.

The first interaction between him and fans started 5 pm on Wednesday, and Azhar replied all his answers through 30-second videos.

The variety of questions ranged from his Test debut to the best captain of the team he would have played for had the Indian Premier League would have been in his time.

Azhar wholeheartedly replied to the queries. When one asked which his best innings? He didn’t pick a single but said his first three hundred in Test were close to his heart.

He said that he would have played for Sunrisers Hyderabad because he belongs to the city.

Someone asked him about his best captain and came the pat reply, “I liked Allan Border and Imran Khan the most. Border, because he revived a team which was down the dumps, and Imran because he led from the front. Any player would have loved to play under his captaincy.”

Azhar replied to eight questions, but his would have been a great delight to his fans.
