Mohammed Shami begins preparation for Australia tour

Indian pace bowling sensation and spearhead Mohammad Shami has begun training and preparing for the upcoming limited overs tour of Australia. Shami, who has not played any form of competitive cricket since the World Cup semi-final in March this year, will be participating in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Shami had to undergo a knee surgery as he played the World Cup in a lot of pain and agony. The healing process took longer than expected, and thus Shami had to be out for a long time.

The Bengal pacer was also recently, the only Indian to be a part of the ICC ODI Team of the year. He was India’s most successful bowler in the ICC World Cup 2015 after Umesh Yadav. A few months ago, Shami had admitted that the time he spent off the cricket field was a terrible phase for him.

Shami confirmed his participation through his official Facebook page and mentioned that he would be playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, in order to be fit in time for the Australia tour. India are bound to play 5 ODI’s and 3 T20I’s in Australia next month.

“I am back after eight months, so I am taking it slow and easy. I am gearing up to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. It will be a good preparation going into the limited overs series against Australia,” wrote Shami on his Facebook page.
