Mominul Haque To Lead Bangladesh In ACC Emerging Cup

Mominul Haque has been named Bangladesh’s skipper for the upcoming ACC Emerging Cup, slated to start from March 27. Apart from him, three cricketers from Bangladesh national cricket team – Nasir Hossain, Mohammad Mithun and Abul Hasan Raju – have been called up. Mehedi Hasan is another big name in the squad.
The 2017 ACC Emerging Cup features U-23 teams from eight countries. It’ll see Asian Test giants – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh – play against the likes of upcoming associates Afghanistan, UAE, Hong Kong and Nepal. As per rules, the Test playing sides are allowed to field up to four senior national players over the stipulated age limit while the associate nations can send their full strength national teams.
While Bangladesh have opted to exercise the liberty, the India junior selection committee have decided not to send any senior players. Tamil Nadu batsman Baba Aparajith will lead the India U-23 team in the tournament, which kicks off in Dhaka. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are yet to announce their squad and therefore, it’s unclear whether both the countries will send their senior players or not.
According to the itinerary, the tournament will be held in four venues –Chittagong (Zahur Ahmed Chowdhary Stadium and MA Aziz Stadium), Cox’s Bazar (Sheikh Kamaal International Cricket Stadium) and Mirpur.
The final game will be held on April 3 under floodlights and it’ll be a live telecast. Group stage matches alongside semi-finals are scheduled to start at 9.00 am as per Bangladesh standard time.
