While Shahid Afridi still tops the list, there is another player quickly approaching the record held by Afridi. Chris Gayle ended his 19 month century drought with a magnificent innings of 215 against Zimbabwe. In this innings of his he became the second player to hit over 400 sixes in International cricket.

Chris Gayle who had earlier hit 398 career sixes in International cricket, took his tally of sixes up to 414 all thanks to record breaking innings of 215 runs. Shahid Afridi has already announced his retirement after the ongoing World Cup, which simply means that this target of hitting most sixes in International Cricket won’t be getting any tougher for Gayle and even if it did, it would hardly matter for Gayle, probably the strongest hitter of cricket ball. Even if he miss hits a ball, the ball would still go over the fence on most of the occasions and that’s his power.

Third on this list is Brendon McCullum with 356 sixes, while he still long way to reach anywhere close to the Top 2, he definitely would get his position better as he is currently in best of his form and recently also hit a 50 in just 18 balls, making it the fastest fifty in ODI World Cup.
