MS Dhoni Has Made Important Decisions, Let Him Take Retirement Call – Shikhar Dhawan
Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has stated that former captain MS Dhoni has made some crucial decision for Indian cricket and we should let him take the final retirement call. It was expected that Dhoni would call time on his international cricket after the conclusion of the World Cup. However, it was not to be the case as Dhoni took two months break and went on to join the Indian army.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has always taken some great decisions for the betterment of Indian cricket. Dhoni is not someone who will hang around if he is not contributing to the team. The wicket-keeper batsman has always been instrumental in the success of Indian cricket. Thus, it is best to let him take his retirement call.
“Dhoni has been playing for so long, I feel he understands when he should retire. This should be his decision. He has taken very important decisions so far for India in his career and I’m sure he will make the call when the time comes,” Dhawan said on India TV’s show ‘Aap Ki Adalat’ hosted by Rajat Sharma.
The southpaw opener added that Dhoni has been able to get the best out of every player, which has been his biggest quality. The talismanic player has backed the players to the hilt and he was able to give confidence to his players.
“That’s the quality of a big leader. He knows the potential of every player and knows to what extent a player should be backed. He knows how to make a champion out of a player. India’s success during his captaincy justifies this. His (Dhoni’s) control is his biggest quality,” Dhawan said.
Meanwhile, the former skipper also backed the current captain, Virat Kohli when the latter was in the young days of his career. Dhoni was able to guide Kohli on the right path and the current captain has taken the Indian legacy forward.
“Dhoni bhai has been quite successful as the captain of the side. We are all very grateful to him and we respect him a lot, and the same goes for Virat. When Virat was young, he guided him immensely. Even when he became the captain, Dhoni Bhai was always there to help him. This is the quality of a leader. It’s good to see that Virat is showing his gratitude to him now,” he said.
MS Dhoni has been a great servant of Indian cricket and it would be interesting to note when he would call time on his career. Furthermore, the linchpin would also be not part of the series against Bangladesh.
