Yograj Singh, Former Indian cricketer and the father of Champion player Yuvraj Singh, today gave a controversial statement to media that the current Indian skipper MS Dhoni’s personal issues with Yuvraj lead to his son’s axing from the squad for the ICC World Cup 2015. Yuvraj, along with Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir were the notable exclusions from India’s 30-probables for this World Cup.

Yograj said:

“I was shocked when I learnt that Yuvraj Singh was not in the World Cup 2015 squad. Dhoni is playing politics with my son.

“If MS Dhoni is having personal issues with my son, I won’t do anything, God will do justice.”

“Pray India wins the World Cup under your captaincy (MS Dhoni) but nothing can be more sad that you behaved this way,” he added.

But Yuvraj Singh, who became the most expensive signing in IPL History today (Delhi Daredevils grabbed him for 16 crores), said that his father got carried away and added that he always enjoyed playing under the leadership of MS Dhoni.

Yuvraj said:

“Like every parent, my father is also passionate and I’m sure he got carried away. I have always enjoyed playing under Dhoni and would do so in future too.”

With due respect to Mr. Yograj Singh, I seriously feel that there was no point in giving such unnecessary statement to media as the Indian team is currently in Australia to defend their World Cup title. But Yuvraj did the right thing in coming out and clarifying that everything is fine between him and Dhoni and he still wishes to represent India under him.
