The five wise men of Indian cricket led by Sandeep Patil announced the 17 member squad for the upcoming four match test series against Australia which begins on December 4. Skipper MS Dhoni is ruled out of the first test with a right forearm injury and in his absence Virat Kohli will lead India at Brisbane on December 4.


The surprising pick for the grudge series is he inclusion of leg-spinner Karn Sharma apart from Karnataka Opener KL Rahul who is in rich vein of form in the domestic circuit. Naman Ojha was also included in the squad.


Rahul has been named as the third opener along with Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan. If MS Dhoni is fit, he will lead the team from the second test match. The squad comprises of nine frontline batsmen, 1 All-Rounder, 2 spinner, 3 wicket keepers and 5 pacers. The team also has Suresh Raina and Wriddhiman Saha coming back into the side.


Once again, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan and Gautam Gambhir were dropped from the test team. India play 4 test matches in Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney and it is expected to be a tough tour for India as Australia will be looking to show their wrath on India.
