Yesterday day marked one of the notable days of this year when the Indian Captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from the longest versions of the game, i.e. test cricket with immediate effect. Surely, he was pretty much valuable as a test player for India and served well during his tenure as a player.
India managed to draw the third test today, courtesy of a valiant match-saving partnership by Dhoni and Ashwin at the death overs. But even by drawing the test, they lost the series as they are down by 2-0 with the last match yet to be played.
Virat Kohli will lead the Indian side in the Sydney test i.e. the fourth test of the series while it is expected that Wriddhiman Saha will keep the wickets for India. Many of the former as well as present cricketers expressed their views about Dhoni’s retirement from test cricket.
But there is a fact that Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh did not make any comments on Dhoni’s retirement and they seemed to be less interested about the matter.
When Harbhajan was asked about the matter, he said that he will not say anything about it as he had nothing to say. Yuvraj Singh was also tight lipped about this matter. Both of them seemed to be slightly uncomfortable when they were asked about this matter and they were willing to somehow avoid the matter anyhow. This kind a reaction from them surely asks some questions.
Both Harbhajan and Yuvraj have been axed from the Indian squad for quite a long time now and also none of them are included in the list of 30-man probable for the Cricket World Cup to be held in February-March, 2015.
Harbhajan and Yuvraj are currently playing their Ranji matches for Punjab against Saurashtra. Yuvraj struck a massive knock of 182 runs yesterday as Harbhajan led Punjab team posed a total of mammoth 659 runs on the board when they declared their innings.
