Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni, current Indian captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma will play together in the all-star game which will take place three days before the league begins on 29th March. The two teams of All-Star IPL game will be a combination of the North and East teams versus the South and West teams.
According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, the two teams for the all-star match are likely to be made by combining players from the four franchises. As per the report, one team will have players from the franchise located in the north and east of India. Thus, the players of Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders will make one team.
It is going to be a delight for the fans.
The other team will have players from the franchises in the south and west – Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Mumbai Indians. Hence, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma can turn out to play for one team. Furthermore, the likes of David Warner and Kane Williamson and some of the big players will be part of the South and West teams.
In fact, Dhoni, Rohit, and Virat have never played for the same team in the IPL and it would be a delight for the fans when the big three will turn out for the game. On the other hand, Ben Stokes, Andre Russell, Glenn Maxwell, Pat Cummins, Steven Smith, and Rishabh Pant can be part of the other team.
Meanwhile, the venue of the All-star IPL game is yet to be decided. The idea of star-studded match has been proposed by BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and IPL Governing Council chairman, Brijesh Patel.
The IPL will begin from 29 March and the first match will be hosted by Wankhede, Mumbai. The final will be also played at Mumbai at 24th May.
