Riyaz Bhati, a member of the Mumbai Cricket Association, was detained at the International Airport. He is a part of the marketing team in the Mumbai Cricket Association and was detained on the grounds of carrying a forged passport.
Bhati was leaving for South Africa and then was detained as per the Passport Act. He had to remain in police custody for 2 days before getting a bail. It has also been reported that Bhati was named in a land-grab case earlier, around 8 years ago. It was only this year that he was appointed in the Marketing team of the Mumbai Cricket Association.
Virendra Mishra, the deputy commissioner of police, told that the immigrant officials found him carrying a forged passport. He added that he was then arrested and later on taken to court.
However the Vice President of MCA, Ashish Shelar, has said that the governing body has nothing to take with the matter will be put on during the meeting of the managing committee and then they will decide of the actions to be taken against Riyaz Bhati.
