Mumbai Indians Collaborate With Diesel For Off-Field Merchandise

Mumbai, Dec 7 (IANS) Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians has collaborated with the denim brand Diesel to launch off-field merchandise comprising denim jeans, polos, T-shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, shirts and accessories.

The event here on Wednesday was graced by Nita Ambani, the owner of Mumbai Indians, along with the team’s captain Rohit Sharma and Renzo Rosso, founder of Diesel, among others.

Ambani said: “The stylish cricket collection truly reflects the dynamism and innovative spirit of the Mumbai Indians. We are very excited to present the MI Collector’s Edition to the cricket fans.”

Mumbai Indians have won the IPL twice. Emphasising on the team’s achievement, Ambani said: “It’s a momentous step for Mumbai Indians to be recognised as the most preferred global brand partner, becoming the first sports team from India to have such a partnership with global reach to cater to our growing global fans.”

Renzo said: “We want to make this collaboration unique, fuelled with innovation and modernity.”

Inspired by the sport, the collection integrates the visual identities and characters of the two brands. The collection takes inspiration from the brand colours of indigo and gold as well as ‘adventure’ and ‘bravery’ which are the two brand ethos.

“We took inspiration from the classic aesthetics of cricket which is clean, masculine, preppy, formal, made of sophisticated and very recognisable details. The ‘V’ shapes that is inherent to the cricket uniform highlights the athlete’s silhouette and celebrates the elegance of this sport,” explained Andrea Rosso, Diesel’s Creative Director for Licenses.

The limited edition collection is launched exclusively for the Indian market and will be available from Thursday at Diesel stores in India and on its portal.

For the global market, the collection will be available at select Diesel stores across major cricketing nations such as England, Australia and South Africa from December 15.
