Mumbai Indians have released Hussey and Praveen Kumar

Two star cricketers have been released from IPL today. Monday being the last day, it was apprehended that a lot of franchises will opt to release the cricketers who could not perform up to the mark during the IPL last year.

Mumbai Indians has released Hussey and Praveen Kumar from their squad. They have bought batsman Unmukt Chand from Rajasthan Royals and medium-pacer Vinay Kumar from Kolkata Knight Riders. They have also bought Royal Challengers Bangalore wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel for their team. Michael Hussey and Praveen Kumar, are likely to go into the player auction ahead of the 2015 season.

Hussey had a very disappointing form in IPL season 2014 wherein he made only 209 runs at an average of 23 and strike rate of 114 in nine innings. Praveen also played only three matches for Mumbai in IPL 2014 and took only three wickets at an economy of 6.50.

Unmukt who could only play in one game for Royals in the 2014 season is likely to perform well this year with Mumbai Indians. On the other hand Vinay took seven wickets in nine games and had an economy of 8.78.
