But the massive blow for the team can be Lasith Malinga missing out the first week of the competition. As per reports, the Sri Lanka pacer has decided to stay with his father who is ill and still to go under surgery.

The Mumbai based franchise has started their three-week preparation in Abu Dhabi, where recently coronavirus cases have seen a spike. All the players of the franchise were tested during the quarantine period, as per BCCI norms.

Being the defending champion,  Mumbai Indians will feature in the tournament opener. However, the positive cases found in CSK camp have delayed the announcement of the IPL schedule.

Earlier, the most-watched T20 league was scheduled to being from 29th March but the outbreak of the virus had postponed the tournament.
