Munaf Patel Surroundes Himself With Another Controversy

Munaf Patel, the former Indian Cricketer, is always around controversies. He is again being claimed for giving death threats to Vadodara-based Cricket Hitrakshak Samiti (CHS) chief Devendra Surti. Surti submitted an application to Navapura police against him.

Last year, Munaf was alleged for match-fixing controversies in Rajputana Premier League after BCCI launched for an investigation into the matter.

Munaf was once on the peak but then soon faded away. He suffered from many injuries and was ruled out between matches. He was picked in the team for the world cup 2011. In the world Cup, he showed praiseworthy performance.

“I have been raising my voice against corruption in the cricket association and this is why I am being threatened. I want the police to know that if something happens to me and my family, then Munaf Patel should be held responsible,” Surti said.

Devendra Surti complained that the player is threatening him to kill as police said.

“We have received the application from Surti. However, he has not filed any police complaint and therefore no FIR has been lodged in the matter,” Police said.

Munaf Patel rejected all the claims

Patel announced his retirement from cricket on November 2018. He had last played for India during the 2011 tour of England. The player has played domestic cricket for Gujarat, Mumbai and Maharashtra. He was picked up by Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2011 because of his talent. Sachin Tendulkar was also impressed by the player. But his performance got down and he remained unsold in IPL 2014 auction. In 10th season, he was bought by Gujarat Lions in Rs. 30 lakh.

Munaf Patel has recently declared all the claims of Surti wrong as he said-

“My name has been dragged into the matter for no reason. I have only played cricket and would continue to do that throughout my life. He has issues with the selections, but I am a team mentor and have no role to play in selections. My name has been unnecessarily dragged into the matter and the allegations are completely baseless.”

Munaf Patel has played 13 Tests, 70 ODIs and  3 T20Is for India. He took 35 wickets in Test, 86 wickets in ODI and 4 wickets in T20I.
