South Africa v India 2018: Murali Vijay Focusing on Fitness; Prepares for South Africa Tour

Team India opening batsman Murali Vijay ahead of the third and final Test at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi in his press conference revealed he is solely focusing on his fitness and preparing for the upcoming series which will kick-start from January 5 in Cape Town.
“I had some fun in my practice so it challenges me and (I) try to better every inch of every day as possible. It’s the whole concept of doing that,” Vijay told during the presser in Delhi.
As the conversation was furthermore interesting when a reporter asked him ‘grassy or non-grassy’ to whom Vijay responded “you can see sir, come on,” and the journalist maintained he ‘we haven’t seen’ the surface yet.
“It has grass obviously that is the whole point for the series. It has been the pattern,” he maintained.

Vijay reiterated the side is working hard as it would be the last Test before India flies to South Africa to play the bilateral series.
“Hopefully, the wicket plays good and we get a good experience before the South Africa tour,” he added.
Vijay who also faced tennis-ball in the nets as the final Test will be beginning on Saturday (December 2).
“Yes, I definitely have. It’s a nice wicket to play a cricket,” remarked Vijay when the reporter asked him had you got a chance to have a first-look at the surface.
It’s pertinent to mention that Vijay was undergoing a rehabilitation programme after wrist surgery.
The top-order batsman stated he is training hard and is hopeful to come good while donning the white jersey.
“Preparing generally (and) trying to do something different in my practice,” Vijay further added.
The 33-year-old Vijay missed-out the Sri Lanka tour early this year, as he made his return while scoring a brilliant hundred in Nagpur. He smashed 128 runs in the only innings, as India is leading the series 3-0.
Vijay reiterated he is working hard on his game to give his best at the top for India.
While talking about the top-order batting, Vijay stated they had shared a cordial relation when he was asked about the different batting partner particularly in the form of KL Rahul.
“It doesn’t matter (settled opening pair). We three are good friends off the field and it makes it easier to do well,” he remarked.
The prominent batsman Vijay wants to stick to his training schedule as Tamil Nadu failed to make to the quarter-finals list of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2017-18.

The Chennai-born batsman Vijay is looking forward to work in tandem and give his best when it comes to open the innings while imparting knowledge to each other which eventually includes Shikhar Dhawan.
“We should clear our head about what we’re going to do, and there are plans for team-building activities so hopefully we can enjoy this tour,” vijay concluded.
