The Englishmen find themselves in a death trap at the Adelaide Oval after experiencing another batting collapse against the Aussies. The Aussies had piled up a pretty decent total with the bat of 442 runs, and their bowling department is living up to the same. Joe Root and his men are struggling with the willow in hand out in the middle with the team having lost six wickets within the 150 run mark.
Big guy Pat Cummins and spinner Nathan Lyon have picked up two scalps each while Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood own solitary wickets. However, the last Englishman to be dismissed was all-rounder Moeen Ali who fell victim to an outstanding caught and bowled effort from Nathan Lyon. The right-handed off-spinner took an absolute blinder diving towards his left to dismiss the well-settled Ali.
The England scoreboard stood at 132 at the loss of 5 wickets when Moeen Ali played a casual shot sending the ball back towards the bowler. The shot had a fair amount of flight in it but was a significant distance away from Lyon. However, the 30-year-old stretched his body to the full and dived towards his left to pull off a mind-blowing catch with his left hand. The commentators went berserk seeing the incredible effort from the veteran which marked the loss of the 6th English wicket. Ali had to depart for a score of 25 leaving England in massive trouble.
The Aussie bowling line up has been too good for the English batsmen with skipper Joe Root failing to make a mark. None of the Englishmen could rise up to the occasion with the bat and their lack of partnerships is turning out to be the main reason behind their failure once again. Steve Smith is once again in the driver’s seat at Adelaide after clinching the victory at Brisbane and the Test could well turn out to be a 2-0 lead for the Aussies.
