New Zealand vs India 2020: Watch: Navdeep Saini’s Powerful Cameo in Auckland

India has lost the ODI series against New Zealand after facing defeat in the second ODI by 22 runs in Auckland. Although there were some positives to drive out from the match. The second game has witnessed the power of the lower-order batsmen, especially from the bat of Navdeep Saini. The pacer was himself surprised with his 45-run knock.

As the top-order and middle-order derailed, the all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja played a crucial role as the lower-order batsman. He set up the sublime partnership with Saini to bring India close to the target. However, their joint effort was not enough,

Navdeep Saini hits two maximums:

There are very fewer instances when you see India’s lower-order batsman gather runs for the team. The second game at Eden Park bears witness to it.

Saini can be called the star performer for the team. He smashed five boundaries and two maximums.

Moreover, the youngster was also enjoying his game after hitting boundaries at Eden Park.

Virat Kohli was also surprised with Saini’s knock:

Post-game, Indian skipper Virat Kohli praised Saini’s batting effort. He said the effort from lower-order batsman helps other players to play freely.

“We were in trouble with the bat, but Saini and Jadeja played really well, as did Shreyas. We didn’t know how good Saini could be with the bat, so if the lower order could be that good, then it inspires the middle order and the top order to step it up too.”

However, Jadeja and Saini’s effort could not lead the team to the finish line. The two teams will head to play the third and last ODI of the series at Bay Oval on Tuesday (12th February).

The Kiwis eye clean sweep against the visitors to revenge 5-0 humiliating T20I series loss.
