NZ vs ENG, 2018: Singer Ed Sheeran paid a surprise visit during Auckland Test

The English singer Ed Sheeran paid a visit to the Eden Park Stadium in Auckland. However, the actor-cum-producer witnessed the inclement weather ruined the day.
Moreover, Yorkshire-based songwriter further boosted the England team which struggled on the first day of the pink-ball Test.
After the visitors were strangulated on 58 on day one, Sheeran literally came to their rescue to lighten the mood of English camp.
Interestingly, paceman James Anderson has expressed a delighted on the appearance of Sheeran in the English changeroom.
“It was nice, especially after a couple of average days, to meet someone of his calibre. There are a few songs (of his) there and it was nice of him to come in and chat to the guys,” PA quotes Anderson
So much so, the intermittent rain has marred the second day of the Test. The only highlight at the stadium after Williamson’s three-figure mark has been Sheeran.
“There are a lot of big fans in there,” Anderson said while revealing peppy numbers of Sheeran.
For the second day, only 23.1 overs were bowled. The Black Caps are leading by 171 runs. At the stumps, the hosts were 229 for four in 92.1 overs.
Pertinently, Anderson picked three out of all four wickets after conceding 53 in 20 overs.
The solitary wicket of the day is of Williamson, who’s dismissed by Anderson.
The right-handed batsman scored 220-ball 102. His innings included 11 fours and a six.
“Right now, he’s up there with the best in the world. I think he’s got a brilliant gameplan, is good technically, good in all conditions and all forms of the game,” Anderson said of Williamson.
Kane Williamson-led side started off their innings from the overnight score of 175 for three in 69 overs. He also notched his record-breaking 18th Test hundred.
“There’s not many around (like him) at the minute in world cricket,” Anderson concludes.
Henry Nicholls is batting on 49 off 143 balls and wicketkeeper-batsman BJ Watling is unbeaten on 17 off 20 balls.
In addition, the official Twitter handle of the Three Lions expressed thanks for Sheeran’s unscripted meet-up.
With the caption, the handle also uploaded the photograph of Sheeran alongside James Vince and fast bowler Mark Wood.
