Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran dedicated his Player of the Match award to the people of Afghans, who were sent back to Pakistan. The Afghan opener played an instrumental role in the team’s historic victory against the Men in Green on Monday.

Afghanistan trounced Pakistan by eight wickets in Chennai. While bowling first, Afghanistan held Pakistan to a total of 282/7. In chasing the good target, Afghanistan batters Hashmatullah Shahidi (48* off 45), Rahmat Shah (77* off 84), and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (65 off 53) batted exceedingly well with Ibrahim being the top-scorer with 87 off 113 balls to ensure their victory in the game.

Ibrahim said after winning Player of the Match that he wanted to dedicate his prize to “those who are sent back to Afghanistan from Pakistan” during the post-game ceremony. The little batter’s remark instantly became well-liked on social media.

The Young Batter made his remarks as the news emerged that Pakistan had ordered all undocumented refugees to depart the nation by November 1. 3,248 Afghan refugees were repatriated to Afghanistan on October 21 according to Khaama Press.

An Afghan permission or a Pakistani identity card will no longer be accepted at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border after November 1, according to a Pakistani news source. 1.73 million Afghans are thought to be living illegally in Pakistan.

Speaking on their emphatic win over Pakistan, Ibrahim Zadran said that the Pakistan team wanted to go out with a positive mindset and intent to win the chase down the total and added that playing with Gurbaz since his earlier days has helped them to form a partnership in the middle and was elated with the team’s performance so far in the tournament.

“I wanted to go out there with a positive mind and positive intent, and I did it. We (Gurbaz and himself) have played a lot of cricket with each other; we have good communication while running between the wickets as we have been playing together since under-16 days”.

“The way Gurbaz supported me, that helped me, and we got the momentum in our favour. I am feeling great for myself and my country,” Ibrahim Zadran added.

Afghanistan defeated Pakistan in an ODI, achieving what they had been unable to do for seven attempts. They had lost painful games in the past, despite having come close to winning a few times and the Afghan players ultimately broke the spell on the biggest stage of them all.
