Former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed has backed the underperforming Pakistan team in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. The Men in Green must be at their absolute best and upset a formidable South Africa in Chennai if they hope to advance to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup semi-finals.

The team captained by Babar Azam has been under pressure in the past few games as they have fallen short on multiple occasions. Pakistan has shown no indications of resistance and the fielders were poor on the field, the bowlers laboured, but most importantly, they lost focus halfway through so far in the tournament.

Speaking to reporters, Sarfaraz Ahmed has extended his unwavering support to the Pakistan team in the ongoing ODI World Cup in India and sounded optimistic about the team’s chance of doing very well in the remaining games despite their hat-trick of losses in the marquee event.

“We need to support the Pakistan team. Yes, they have not played good cricket but they can bounce back. They don’t need to lose hope and give 100 percent of the effort without worrying about the result, People who are outside must support the team and whatever things one has to say, say it after the tournament ends,” Sarfaraz Ahmed said.

The Men in Green are presently on a three-match losing streak and are mired in sixth place with only two wins from five games and the team will look to turn things around when they take on a red-hot South African team at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

I Play Domestic Cricket And Most Importantly The Performance Have Been Beneficial – Sarfaraz Ahmed

Sarfaraz Ahmed, who played a key role in the Karachi Whites’ victory, underlined the importance of consistent performances in regional cricket and wants to continue his fine form going forward.

“I always try to continue my performances whenever I play domestic cricket and most importantly the performances have been beneficial for the team,” Sarfaraz Ahmed added.

Sarfaraz Ahmed emerges as one of the potential candidates to lead the Pakistan side if the Pakistan Cricket Board decides to sack Babar Azam post the completion of the ODI World Cup 2023 in India and the wicket-keeper batter hasn’t been in Pakistan’s plans in white-ball cricket at the moment.
