Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar launched a vicious attack on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Pakistan team following their shambolic performance against Afghanistan on Monday. The Men in Green are in a spot of bother after the third consecutive loss in the marquee event.

The Men in Green face an uphill struggle to advance to the semifinal round with only two victories from five games. It was especially difficult for them to accept their loss against Afghanistan since they failed to deliver in the second innings despite putting up a fighting total on a tricky track.

Speaking on his YouTube Channel, Shoaib Akhtar lambasted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the team’s performance in the ongoing ODI World Cup in India. He believes that if they don’t appoint the right individuals to the team’s management, these kinds of results will continue to occur.

“You can’t say much after watching this performance. Please put the right man in the right place for god sake. Anyone is becoming chairman, for how long we will keep supporting mediocrity? You will keep putting the average people at the helm, you will keep receiving such average performances,” Shoaib Akhtar said.

“This is the true reflection of the PCB what is shown now on the television today. This is the direct impact of the choices you have made for the past 20-30 years in cricket. This is the result, you are getting,” Akhtar added.

After losing to India, and Australia and then losing to Afghanistan, Pakistan has now lost three straight games. They obviously need to make some adjustments going into the remaining games of the ODI World Cup to give them a chance to qualify for the final four of the marquee event.

This Is The Worst, Which Has Happened – Shoaib Akhtar Wants Babar Azam To Up His Game

Shoaib Akhtar expressed his disappointment in Pakistan performing in this manner in the World Cup and urged Babar Azam to step up for the team and perform in the remaining four games. He also questioned and urged the team to play as a unit and have a belief.

“I have played for Pakistan, my heart bleeds. I will keep supporting Pakistan. If I had been with Babar now I would have told him to step up as captain. This is the worst, which has happened. Now we are playing four teams and let’s win them all”.

“Does Babar have the courage, does he have the stamina? does he have the ability? Can he act like 1992 Imran Khan? Can Shaheen become Wasim Akram? Can Haris Rauf become Aquib Javed, Can Shadab become Mushtaq Ahmed? Can this team do this? I believe in this team but do they? God knows,” Shoaib Akhtar further added.

On the spin-friendly Chepauk surface, Usama Mir, Shadab Khan, and Iftikhar Ahmed failed to live up to the expectation in the game and they didn’t bowl very efficiently on a wicket that assisted the Afghan spinner as they went up to concede 131 runs in their combined 21 overs.
