On This Day: Mohammad Kaif Reminisces India’s World Cup Win Seven Years Ago

The visual of former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni, smashing Nuwan Kulasekara over long-on for a maximum, with the voice of Ravi Shastri in the background, and hit the winning runs to help India lift the World Cup of 2011 after 28 years, is still fresh in the mind of many cricket enthusiasts.
2nd April 2011 will always be instilled in the memory of many ardent Indian cricket fans. To think that it has been seven years since MS Dhoni and co. lifted the coveted trophy is beyond belief.
As a result, many members of the Indian cricket community, including Mohammad Kaif, took to social media to reminisce the most iconic moment in Indian cricket history.
“One of the greatest moments for Cricket lovers of this generation. Gambhir and Dhoni on that night 7 years ago took us to glory. A night to never forget and Sachin Paaji had his hands on the World Cup after waiting for 22 years,” tweeted Mohammed Kaif.
The post also included a picture of the Indian cricket team basking glory after winning their second world cup within four years.

On the night of the finals, Indian captain MS Dhoni eclipsed the efforts of Gautam Gambhir and Mahela Jayawardena, to play one of the knocks for the folklore.
The entire Indian team dedicated the win to God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar who played his final world cup.
