At present, Russell Domingo is performing the role of Head Coach. He has reapplied for the job when the board invited application for the post and it was expected that he might get an extension but the series of events has not favoured him and Gibson is expected to succeed Domingo. Apart from England, he has previously worked with West Indies team as well. With his exit from the England coaching staff, it will open the doors for other former players to have a go at the job for bowling coach of England.

Jason Gillespie is one of the favourites to earn this contract. He has earlier expressed his desire to the perform role of coach when he revealed that he considered having a go at India coaching job. Though the idea didn’t materialise at that time, this time it might come on the floor soon.
