Video : Pakistan’s epic celebration after winning Lord’s test

The proceedings were done and dusted late on the fourth evening at Lord’s as Pakistan wrapped up a memorable win over England. Needing 283 to win the first test, England got off to a terrible start as Rahat Ali was on the money straight away with his fantastic display in the first spell. Ali’s three scalps at the top dented England colossally and the hosts could never recover from that setback right at the top.

Just when a partnership between Jonny Bairstow and Chris Woakes was brewing, leg-spinner Yasir Shah came to the party as he cleaned up the wicketkeeper. It was just a matter of time before the hosts collapsed to hand Pakistan a memorable victory by 75 runs.

Post the victory, though, the Pakistanis celebrated in a rather unusual manner as the entire squad got down and began doing push-ups. It could be as a gesture to the members within the Pakistani members who trained the squad in order to get fitter and more athletic on the field.

Skipper Misbah Ul Haq was delighted with the win and seemed rather emotional with his words. “Remarkable turnaround after that 2010 incident, this team took responsibility. They showed respect to the game, playing all through the six years, bringing the team to No. 3. And winning this Test match against a top side in their conditions speaks volumes about our team. Everybody wants Amir to play, the crowd especially, the supporters. Everyone believes he is such a good cricketer, it’s something special for him also, he is part of a team which has won a Test match here. It’s a really memorable day for him and from here he can start his career again, he is a good kid now. If we can cross 300, we have a chance, especially in the first innings. We have a top spinner and the bowlers in the fourth innings, they can put so much pressure with reverse swing and make it really difficult for the opposition,” said Misbah.
