The most expensive overseas player of the IPL auction history – Pat Cummins, has decided where to spend the auction money. In the 13th edition of IPL, he will be seen wearing the Kolkata Knight Riders’ jersey.
The Australian pacer was surprised and also happy to get the highest bid in the latest IPL auction. He entered the auction with the base price of INR 2 crores and returned earning of 15.5 crores, surpassing English all-rounder Ben Stokes’ record of being the most expensive overseas player, who was bought for 14.5 crores by Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017.
Pat Cummin’s girlfriend Becky Boston has decided to buy toys for her dogs from the money he will get from IPL 2020.
“I found a stream of it and watched it and couldn’t believe what I was seeing. The first thing my girlfriend said was – we can buy the dog a couple more toys now’, so she’s got her priorities sorted,” he told reporters on Tuesday.
Pat Cummins bought for 15.50 crore
All the Australian players got a deal in the IPL 2020 auction but the player to get the best deal in IPL history was the pacer, Pat Cummins. He hasn’t registered his name in the last edition of IPL auction. However, there was a massive bidding war to buy him in Kolkata in the latest auction.
Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore were keen to get the service of Pat Cummins but at the end, Kolkata Knight Riders got him for the whopping INR 15.5 crore.
Talking about other Australia players, Glenn Maxwell’s purchase also shocked everyone as he was the second most expensive player in this auction, earned 10.75 crores from Kings XI Punjab. His break from international cricket due to mental health issues didn’t affect his image in the IPL auction.
