Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi is quite hopeful that his side’s captain Darren Sammy converts his religion from Christianity to Islam after the West Indian is reportedly studying the religion.
Sammy was handed over the captaincy by Shahid Afridi during the draft of PSL 2017, and later he helped Peshawar win their maiden PSL title this year after beating Quetta Gladiators in the final.
Though, in a video circulating on social media, Javed was seen talking about Sammy to different channels saying its an achievement for him to push the World Cup winning captain to read about the Islamic religion.
“I pray that he accepts Islam as his religion. He has complete knowledge and the way he is reading about Islam, I think it’s a biggest achievement. For me, for my whole team, it is a big thing.”
Apart from him showing dire interest in the religion, Sammy’s has been admirable as a team-mate, as he also learned Pashto during his stay with the team players. Also, Sammy was among the very first players to say yes to play in Lahore after many of them refused to come relating to the twin blast in the city before the night of final.
