Road To ICC World Cup 2015: Players who missed out

Shashi / 13 February 2015

ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 will start tomorrow and teams are all set to have a go at the opposition . But there will be seveal players who could not make into their respective sides, either due to injury or being left out because of performace or any other reason (Bravo and Pollard) . Here is a list of the players who missed out the Cricket World Cup 2015:

1: Yuvraj Singh : The hero of the 2011 World Cup could not manage a spot in the 2015 squad but of his poor show at the International level.  But the fact that Yuvraj was selected in 2011 World Cup even with a  horrible run even before the 2011 World Cup should raise questions over his axing. But , any cricket fan with an iota of cricketing sense should believe that this is a well thought out process as his bowling is never going to be an asset in Australia and New Zealand.

2: Dwayne Bravo (captain) : Hard to believe , but this is what it is. West Indies removed their captain from the squad , only to make a new captain. Selectors have been criticised by the players and this has been termed as a loss even by the newly appointed captain Jason Holder.

3: Kieron Pollard: The hard hitting all rounder has also been axed from the squad , but performance canot be the only reason. The WICB is hiding something , which might bring in anothe controversy. Or , it might have to take something with the Windies team returning back home midway from Indian series.

4: Mohammad Hafeez: Hafeez could not amke it into the squad because of a alf injury. Earlier , he was banned from bowling due to an illegal action. But the controversy started after Hafeez said that he could have recovered from injury by the main half of the tournament.

5: Kevin Pietersen: The South African born England batsman was axed from the squad after Englaish side had a horrible Ashes Down Under and since then he neven wore the English cap.

6: Alastair Cook: Controversial Cook was kicked out just before the World Cup because of his poor form and even more because of the way he scored runs, which did put an extra pressure on the middle-order batsmen.

7: Kamraan Akmal (wk): Known for his unique ability to drop sitters, he missed tthe Trip to the World Cup because his brother was preferred over him and Sarfaraz’s performance before the World Cup , which enabled him to get picked as the 2nd wicket keeper.

8: Junaid Khan: Pakistan’s spearhead missed the tour because of injury , giving a huge blow to his team’s chances in the World Cup.

9: Sunil Narine: Sunil Narine pulled out of the World Cup stating that he is still not confident with the new action . ICC shoul be brought into the scanner on how can the same bowler remain at the top of the ICC rankings for so long if his action was not OK.

10: Saeed Ajmal: Though his action was cleared recently, but he had earlier pulled out of the World Cup . He could have been added into the squad if Pakistan choosed him over Nasir Jamshed to replcae Hafeez.

11: Matt Henry: He lost his place to Adam Milne . With both being the same sort of bowler, it is hard to question his omission.
