The campaign of the Gujarat Lions has come to an end after a close defeat to the Sunrisers Hyderabad at Delhi in the second qualifier. It was a tight game where the Sunrisers Hyderabad got home and chased down 163 thanks to the sheer enigma of skipper David Warner, who was just fantastic for his knock of 93*.
One individual though, who had a forgettable outing was Lions pacer Praveen Kumar. Kumar’s night was marred by an ugly confrontation with Warner during the 18th over of the run chase as an enraged Kumar was seen charging towards Warner. Kumar was eventually stopped by wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik.
Before confronting Warner though, Kumar had a brush up with Sunrisers spinner Bipul Sharma as the pacer stared back at Sharma with anger in his eyes. Sharma had already hit a couple of sixes, and that seemed to disrupt Kumar, who went on to display his temper tantrums to Sharma.

Post his side’s loss, Suresh Raina admitted that his players didn’t execute the plans well. “They played very well. We did not execute the plans. Bravo, PK and DK, I thought they would deliver today. Warner batted very well. 162 was defendable. Shivil bowled well in patches, surprised them I think, but if somebody could have stepped out to give us those crucial wickets after the 17th over, it would have made a difference. New team, new venue and thanks to all the fans,” said Raina.
