Prithvi Shaw, the Delhi Capitals opener has been in good form in IPL 2020 so far and is among the Top-5 run-scorers in the tournament with two half-centuries to his name. On Monday, he scored a brisk 42 runs off 23 balls and gave DC a perfect start against RCB which his side won by 59 runs.

Delhi Capitals have so far been one of the best teams to watch in IPL 2020. It is no surprise that DC seem to be the favourites’ to win their maiden title this year.  The Shreyas Iyer-led DC side is currently at the top of the points table with four wins and just one loss in their first five matches.

Prithvi Shaw Was Unfortunate Not To Have Carried On After Powerplay

The team seems to have a good balance which they have shown in the games that they have played so far. The batting seems to be augur well, with skipper Shreyas Iyer leading the team with some impressive knocks, and opener Prithvi Shaw joining in as well with two half-centuries. The two batsmen are among the list of Top-five run-scorers in IPL 2020 so far.

Their emphatic victory against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday was such that they posted their highest total ever against the Virat Kohli-led side – a mammoth 196 runs, and also managed to win by the largest margin against them by 59 runs. With the win, DC went to the top of the points table.

Opener Prithvi Shaw played a key role at the top with a brisk 42 runs off 23 balls and gave them the perfect start on Monday. Prithvi Shaw was out soon after the powerplay in the 4th ball of the 7th over after scoring 42 off 23 balls which included five fours and two sixes.

“I think I would have carried on after the powerplay, but unfortunately I lofted it. However, it’s just a game and I think this has become history now, so I’ll leave this over here itself and concentrate on the next game,” said Shaw after the match.

The 20-year-old stitched a solid 68-run opening partnership with the experienced Shikhar Dhawan which helped the team post a competitive 196/4 against Virat Kohli-led RCB.

“Yeah definitely, I think this is the momentum we have to carry throughout this tournament and this is the start we all wanted, especially in the powerplay, without giving any wicket away. In the first six overs, we scored 63, I think, which is a good start and then we give advantage to the middle and lower order,” said Shaw.

Shreyas Iyer has scored 181 runs while Prithvi Shaw has scored 179 and are placed at 4th and 5th in leading the run-scorers list in IPL 2020. They are only behind KL Rahul, Faf Du Plessis and Mayank Agarwal.

Prithvi Shaw: Delhi Capitals Have Started Positively And Have To Carry Forward Momentum In Remaining Matches

Speaking on the overall team performance, the 20-year old opener feels everything is going according to plan.

“I think it’s a very good start, a very positive start to this tournament and we have to carry this momentum. Everything is going perfect, you know, the batting, bowling – skills-wise we are going in the right direction, so really happy for the team,” the youngster Shaw said.

Delhi Capitals won against KXIP in Super Over after scores were tied in 20 overs as both team scored an identical 157/8. They beat CSK by 44 runs but lost to SRH by 15 runs. They came back into winning ways by beating KKR by 18 runs and RCB by 59 runs.
