Prospects of four Asian teams reaching quarter final of World Cup 2015

The performance of Asian teams in the World Cup 2015 has been outstanding so far in the tournament. They have shown that they can challenge the best in the World. India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan have done well so far in the World Cup 2015.

India before coming to the World Cup 2015 was heavily crictized for their bowling. When the World Cup 2015 came India has been on a roll. They have won four matches in row. In the first match India beat Pakistan by 76 runs; they defeated the much superior team South Africa by 130 runs, beat UAE by 9 wickets and defeated West Indies by 4 wickets. India’s batting has scored 300+ twice and chased down the totals. India with this type of form has entered the quarter finals and hopes to continue their form in knockout matches.

Sri Lanka has also done well in the tournament. They have played 5 matches winning 3 and losing 2. The batting has been in great form with Dilshan, Sangkara, Thirmane, Jayawarnde, Mathews. The main concern for them has been their bowling. They have played NewZeleand and lost by huge margin, played Afghanstan and won by 4 wickets, defeated Bangladesh, beat England and lost to Australia. Their final league match is against Scotland a win their match, enter the quarter finals.

The biggest surprise of the tournament has been Bangladesh. They played some outstanding cricket thus far. They have played 5 matches winning 3 and losing 2. They beat Afghanistan, got a point from a match against Australia, lost against Sri Lanka, won against Scotland and beat England to knock them out of the tournament. Their last match will be against NewZeleand.

Pakistan the last Asian team started the tournament on a bad note losing to India and West Indies, winning against Zimbabwe, against UAE and defeating the mighty South Africa. Their last match will against Ireland which is a prequarter final. Looking at the form they are they will also qualify for quarter finals.

Among the four Asian teams India and Sri Lanka will go into the semi finals. Out of these two teams one of them can also bring back the cup. Looking at the form of India they might defend their title.
