PSL 2023: “These Gestures Only Create More Frustration”- Ramiz Raja Reacts To Wasim Akram Kicking Chair After Karachi Kings’ Loss

Ramiz Raja has slammed his former Pakistan teammate Wasim Akram for his frustrated gestures after Karachi Kings lost a close encounter to Multan Sultans on February 22. Akram, who is the president of the Karachi franchise, was visibly angered by the result and kicked a chair in front of him.
Karachi Kings were under pressure to get on the winning note and captain Imad Wasim started correctly by winning the toss and chose to chase the target. The Sultans put in a strong total of 196/2 in 20 overs, with their captain Mohammad Rizwan smashing a brilliant century (110* off 64 deliveries). Shan Masood (51) and Rilee Rossouw (29) also contributed to the total.

In reply, Karachi Kings got off to a strong start thanks to Matthew Wade (20) and James Vince (75), who helped them reach 105/1 in the 10th over, but then Sultan’s bowlers began piling on the pressure by taking wickets and the equation came down to 40 runs in 12 balls.
Imad Wasim (46*) played brilliantly to reduce the target to 6 runs in 4 balls, but Abbas Afridi, who bowled the final over, only allowed 2 runs to be scored, and Kings lost by 3 runs. This result for Karachi Kings led to Wasim Akram getting angered and kicking the sofa in front of him.

It Isn’t Good For Public View: Ramiz Raja Advises Wasim Akram To Control His Emotions
This was Karachi’s fourth loss in five matches and Sultans’ fourth win in five matches. Wasim Akram, the president of the Karachi Kings, was in the dressing room after the defeat and couldn’t contain his rage as he kicked a chair in front of him. Social media users quickly shared Akram’s response, and many of his followers criticized the Pakistani legend for his outburst.

Ramiz Raja, a former captain of Pakistan who served as the Pakistan Cricket Board’s chairman until December of last year, was equally scathing of Akram as he spoke about the latter’s angry response from the dressing room.
“See, I’ve been the chairman of PCB. I know (if I were still there) I couldn’t do anything from sitting outside. When you have selected a team, you have to back them. And then, you have to keep a cool mind and analyse the performance. This is pure frustration. This doesn’t look good. If you can’t control your temperament, which is the most important thing in your position, it isn’t good for public view,” Ramiz said on BOL Network.
Karachi Kings will face Multan Sultans once more on February 26, but this time in Karachi stadium in a day match.
